News from IJM Zambia

Friends, it is with deep sadness that I convey the news of Colonel Clement Mudenda's passing in Zambia, Friday, May 11. This is a blow to all who knew him, but also to the ministry of the International Justice Mission ministry in Zambia. The 2006 team shared a special hour with him last summer, and learned very quickly that he was a dear Christian brother.

The Colonel's credibility and prestige were a great asset to IJM's work in Zambia. Our friend Pamela Mumbi serves ably as interim director, and it would be good for us to lift her up in our prayers, along with the whole staff. In addition, please pray for Clement's widow Brenda, and their six children.

You can see a tribute to our brother on the IJM website at:

Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord. "Yes," says the Spirit, "they will rest from their labors, for their deeds follow them." Revelation 14:13

FW: News from IJM Zambia

Zambiaphiles -
Attached is a message we sent out to folks who are aware of our connection to International Justice Mission in Lusaka. It bears the sad news of the death of Lusaka director Clement Mudenda at 52 years of age. For this year's team: We will visit the IJM office and meet the acting director, Pamela Mumbi, who visited LGPC in April. The Lusaka team is in need of our prayers now more than ever; the loss of Colonel Mudenda probably means a loss of "clout" because of his national reputation.

Wooden Crosses

Mwabuka Buti,

I am looking forward to replacing my cross that I received on my first trip to Zambia. I left my cross in Zambia with Kingsley, a World Vision staffer who needs our continued prayers for his health. Seeing the pictures of the crosses reminds me that while we are praying each week with a team member, we should select a WV staff member and pray for them also.

Alumbwe Leza,

Pam

Crosses for a Journey of Hope

Zambia GoTeam Members Assist in Making Crosses for 2007 Journey of Hope

Each team member will wear a simple wooden cross to unify them as they represent Christ as His hands and feet during their mission trip to Zambia June 26 – July 11, 2007. For several years church member, Tom Moore, has made crosses for our mission teams. That project has now grown to also encompass our youth mission teams, which means approximately 100 crosses per year. This year we are taking some larger free-standing crosses to leave as a gift to the churches in the Sinazongwe Region of Zambia. We are so grateful for Tom and the way he uses his gifts and skills to be used for these mission efforts.
